About the FestivalThis November, United Nations Association of Greater Boston, together with the Kennedy School Alumni Association of New England, is proud to present the Fifth Annual United Nations Association Film Festival Traveling Festival Boston. In 2002, we opened the Festival with two film sessions gathering about 200 viewers in the Kennedy School’s Taubman Building. Since then the festival has weathered a blizzard (2003), expanded to a second location at Boston University, added a third day, and grown to about 600 attendees. The Festival has seen a lot of change, but the vision remains constant: looking at moving human issues through the eyes of international documentary filmmakers. In our fifth year, we look forward to continuing the vision, while reaching a greater audience. This year’s UNA Traveling Film Festival Boston is dedicated to the memory of Julius Babbitt, whose visionary spirit helped to bring the Festival to Boston five years ago, and whose globally-thinking, locally-active citizenship inspires us still. In that light, our festival this year focuses on Global Voices – an exploration of human lives around the world. The 20 films touch on topics that affect people everywhere, and they tell of both great need and great hope. We hope you join us this November as we a voice to the world in Boston. United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF)Conceived in 1998 at Stanford University by film critic and educator Jasmina Bojic in conjunction with the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF) screens documentaries by international filmmakers dealing with topics such as human rights, environmental survival, women’s issues, children, refugee protection, homelessness, racism, disease control, universal education, war and peace. By bringing together filmmakers, the academic community and the general public, UNAFF offers a unique opportunity for creative exchange and education among groups and individuals often separated by geography, ethnicity and economic constraints.
